Dollhouse Miniature Mermaid Nautical Christmas Tree 1/12 scale

I haven't had a lot of time due to personal issues but I did finally finish this nautical mermaid tree I made:

I wish I had more time to talk about it, but I don't right now :(  The details are pretty much in the photos I guess.

Dollhouse Miniature Sewing Witch Halloween Christmas Tree and Fairy Fireplace 1/12 scale

Hey everyone, I have a couple new miniatures I haven't posted yet so I wanted to share them with you.  I have a new theme tree done and only one more planned for the rest of this year.  This one that's done is a sewing witch tree similar to one my MIL Sherry made years ago.  I never made one and I had one mini sewing machine left so I figured I'd make one too.  Here it is:

Description:
Even witches need a holiday that doesn't involve tricks or treats! This tree belongs to a crafty little witch, who knows how to turn a stitch :) She likes her trees black, her hats pointing and droopy and tricked out fancy, her potions nefarious, and her sewing is divine! What a woman!
This tree reflects her personal style. Topped with a jaunty leather witch hat with a tiny owl clutching onto the side while a snowy owl perches below on the tree, the rest of the tree is covered in tiny brooms, potions, candles dripping wax, all sorts of witchy goodness. Underneath the tree sits an antique singer-style sewing machine working away with a pile of tiny sewing patterns for various witch outfits sitting around it. Sewing baskets, a witch boot pin cushion with needles, a bubbling cauldron with oozing green potion, a cute little broom decorate the base of the tree on a witchy tree skirt. This tree is completely tricked out and hand-crafted from top to bottom. Amazing!

This tree measures roughly 7 inches tall, close to 5 inches wide at the base give or take a little because of the stuff sticking off the sides.

And this is a fairy fireplace I did beforehand:

Dollhouse Miniature Wizard of Oz Theme Tree now complete

Sorry for the long wait everyone, but I've been sick with an undiagnosed allergy that's causing me a lot of grief right now and for the past two months I haven't been well.  Still trying to figure out what's causing it, still going through tests at the doctor's.  It's been crazy trying to figure out what's causing me to get sick.  I've tried everything, even pulling out carpet in my house in case it's dust or something like that and cleaning everything in sight.  No idea so far :(

Anyway enough of that, but that's why it took me so long to get this done and not in time for Christmas.  But I did finally get it done.  I'm really happy with how it turned out though!  I feel it's one of my best.  TONS of work though, yikes.  Some very difficult sculpting on this one.

I'll show you pictures and describe what I did below them:

Photobucket

This tree is wildly imaginative and so very cute in person. Photos never seem to capture the magic of the minis as they really are in person. There is tons of work in this tree, I worked on it for a month and a half little by little. So many completely handmade and pure sculpted items on this tree, including the flying monkey with real feathers all over him that I made from sculpting clay and then I hand-painted him and added feathers all over his body. I followed a photo of the flying monkeys from the movie as carefully as I could. Another pure sculpt would be little Toto the dog, completely haired in tibetan lambs wool. Squished underneath a large gift box is the Wicked Witch, her little black and white stocking legs sticking out with those famous ruby slippers on her feet. Next to her propped up by some little munchkin is her witches flying broomstick. On the other side of the tree is a piece of snowy ground with completely meticulously handmade red poppies as in the movie. Remember when the Wicked Witch casts a spell for poppies to grow up in between Dorothy and the Emerald City? They made her go to sleep. Glenda the Good Witch cast another spell for snow to fall on the poppies which woke her up, allowing her to get to the Emerald City after all :) And so, snowy poppies on the other side of my tree. Toto stands on the yellow brick road under the tree ready to begin the journey to the Wizard. Various beautifully wrapped gifts sit under the tree, most wrapped elaborately in beautiful fabrics and fluffy bows. On the tree, candles everywhere, gorgeous framed photos from the movie of the most important movie characters including the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Glenda the good witch, the Wicked Witch, Dorothy, and one of the Wicked Witch threatening Dorothy. Also on the tree, hand-sculpted tornado ornaments with all sorts of things coming out of the top and gears flying along the side of the tornados as well. A sculpted pair of ruby slippers with little bows hangs right in the front of the tree toward the bottom where they can be seen well. All sorts of other things cover the tree but I'll let you look over the photos to see them all. These were the most important things I thought I'd mention.

I'm very very proud of how this tree came out and though it was a lot of work, I feel it's one of my best and I'm thrilled with it :) It's lovely in person!

A smidge over 7 inches tall, the base is roughly 7 1/4 inches wide at the widest point due to the things sticking off of it and around it. This is a wider base to accommodate the various design features like the yellow brick road and snowy poppy field.

Getting closer on my Miniature Rudolph Christmas Tree

All I have left to do is make the Island of Misfit Toys characters.  Then I'm all done with this one :)  Hoping to have it listed in the next two days.  I heard from Sherry that she's making up to 4 new trees herself, the themes being 2 Cinderella trees, one candy tree, and one gemstone encrusted mini tree.  Since she started her store, she's bought a ton of cool gemstones online.  I guess she decided to make a totally gemstone tree for fun.  She said the garland is made from a ton of carats of peridot gemstones and they rest of the tree is covered in all other types of stones.  No idea, but it should be interesting to see it :)  It was a unique idea anyway.  I'll be starting my next tree next week I think.  I'm not sure yet which I plan on doing first between Wizard of Oz and Nightmare before Christmas.  Not sure :)  Here's what I have done with the Rudolph tree, minus the misfit toys.  I've started the Charlie in the Box toy, not sure yet which others I'll make:

Front:
Charlie in the box will be sitting in the front of the wheel barrow, I know that much.  There will be more toys of course.

Closer look at the bottom:

Back of the tree:
I wish these pictures had turned out more clear.  The detail is really lost no matter what I do.  But you get the idea though.  Now for the toy sculpting :)  Should be challenging to do toys so small.

More of Sherry and I's jewelry:

                                                                 Genuine Mystic Chrysoprase

                                                                      Personalized!

The store is finally taking off I think, and we'll be adding more and more to it as we go along.  And it'll be mostly genuine gemstone jewelry from here on out.

A sneak peak at the miniature Christmas tree I'm working on

I started a new theme tree and I haven't gotten very far along yet but I thought I'd pop in and show you what I have started so far.
Keep in mind this doesn't look like much yet but give me time and it'll be full of goodies:
And the backside of the tree so far:
                                                          And the front again :)

I have a long way to go yet.  My plans are to make the island of misfit toys characters with clay, to make more tree ornaments, some candy to stick here and there, and wrapped gift boxes for under the tree.  The bottom side that has nothing on it will have packages and "Charlie" in the box-the jack in the box toy who was a misfit because he was named Charlie instead of Jack :)  The gold disks on the tree will have candles in them and there will be bright green ornaments here and there.  And toys all over the tree of course.  It'll be full of stuff before the end.  This is just a basic start of what will be for this tree.  And yes, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is an actual part of the tree base, he's glued on there.  You can't really see the fabric of the tree skirt but it looks like snow a bit but with a slight pale blue shimmer.  Around it is a snowy white garland trim you can just barely make out in this photo.  I'll be back when I'm done with it, this is the start of three theme trees I'm doing.  The 2nd will be Wizard of Oz because I need to rewatch the movie for inspiration.  How fun is that?  That's what's great about minis, you get to relive being a kid again :)  The third tree will be my own version of The Nightmare Before Christmas Tree but done in the Jack Skellington "Christmas" style instead of the Halloween style Sherry did (which was darling, I just want to do more of a Christmas look myself to change things up a bit).    Think Santa Claus Jack plus a few creepies, plus candy, etc.  Jack in his Santa outfit, shrunken heads on the tree mixed in with candy, bats, Christmas stockings, his dog Zero of course, etc.  A mix of Halloween and Christmas, with the majority leaning towards Christmas.

Stay tuned for updates :)

Updated Pictures-Dollhouse Miniature Snow White Theme Tree

All I have left to do to the rabbit hole project inside is cloth and hair Alice.  I was working on that and got fed up so I took a little break to make this theme tree :)  Snow White is everywhere right now due to the movies Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman.  So it put me in the mood to make a theme tree.  My pictures are horrid because the sun was directly overhead when I shot them so I'll have to come back in tomorrow with new pictures.  So please note that this is better in person!

Available here:

I also reshot some pictures of a necklace I made since the pictures were so distant and far away that it wasn't selling.  Every other piece I've made has sold previously, this is the last one left.

Updated-Projects, custom orders, and Holiday Cheer :)

Another blog only deal:  Type in coupon code "christmasblog" during checkout to get your complimentary 15% off the purchase price during the month of December only.  This deal is only for those who have read my blog because it's not posted anywhere in the store :)

Gosh I haven't blogged in awhile!  Too busy :(  The holidays are upon us, and this means not only do I have the house renovation and store to deal with, but also family and shopping :o  Sheesh!  Thanksgiving was madness as usual, with an extended family as large as mine.  I made eight dozen deviled egg halves!  Eight dozen!  Lord have mercy on me because Christmas dinner is right around the corner too.

Enough about that.  What have I been doing?  Custom orders for one.  I made this for one of my new customers, a custom snow white evil queen chest based on this chest the evil queen is holding here in this picture:

It was given to the huntsman to bring back proof in the form of a heart that snow white was indeed dead :o
Here's my version:

The bottles inside have apples, poison apple potion, a sculpted heart, beauty potion, malice (has a knife in it, hehe) and a bottle of wealth.

I have another custom order for her to do when the piece I ordered comes in.

This chest will be a snow white themed item, made to look like something of hers while she resides with the 7 dwarfs.  I'm planning something woodlandish, with sweet little details made to look like something of snow white's.  I think this piece looks exactly like it could have been in that wooden cottage of the seven dwarfs!
Another upcoming custom order, and it's a major big one!  The same lady wants me to make a Alice in wonderland scene, quite large compared to what I normally do, based on this:
I'm planning on making the structure of air dry clay and wire.  There will be only one Alice though.  Three just looks odd to me.  And the scenery inside should be quite different and more true to the movie.  This will be the cartoon version, not the Tim Burton version.

So I'll post updates as I build it.  It will take awhile, and I also have to have a working light unit inside it.

Otherwise, I just finished this up last night:

a witch's birthday party table and chair set :)  See the overflowing cauldron birthday cake?  This is so flippin' cute in person, the pictures don't do anything for it :(  In person, it rocks!  And it's available now in my store.  I no I won't make another one, lol.  If someone buys it, it's gone!
And one last thing in the spirit of the Christmas season, a short story:
When I was a little girl in second grade, we had a house fire right before Christmas.  Our entire house burnt to the ground.  If it hadn't been for my Mother, I wouldn't have made it out alive.  She ran down a burning hallway that was completely engulfed in flames to get me.  She had part of her hair burnt off and her eyebrows were burnt off (it all regrew, but now you get how dangerous it really was)  we lost everything we had.  I sat across the street and watched our refrigerator melt!  There were no longer any walls left by that time.  In the aftermath, we picked through the rubble looking for any sign that anything had survived the fire.  There was absolutely nothing left not burnt up or broken, save this:

I have all of the pieces, but they weren't out yet in this picture.  This single thing was left.  The entire nativity set was in one piece, and wasn't burnt up.  You can see the charred look on the paint of the people, which shows it went through a fire.  But nothing was broken.  Matter of fact, the burnt look added to the authentic look of the set.  It made it look more realistic if anything.  My Mother had LOTS of nick knacks and porcelain figures.  Everything was reduced to rubble.  Every single thing we had ever had at that point in our lives was destroyed.  Why then did this entire set come through the fire without a single chip?  It was on display, like all of her other things at the time.  Everything else was most likely knocked to the ground when the walls came down or the furniture they were sitting on burnt up.  Yet we found every piece of this nativity set unscathed.  Strange, huh?  And our town rallied around us and gave us back all the stuff we had lost and I ended up with more toys and clothes than I had before :)  The true meaning of Christmas revealed???  You decide :)
"Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more!" Dr. Seuss

Offer not good for custom orders though.

Welcome to my new followers :)  Glad to have you around!

Ugh these pictures are perfectly horrid, but nonetheless I'll post them for now until I get new ones tomorrow.  Darn night-time photocube pictures!  They make everything look Gosh-Awful!

Sorry it took me so long, but I've been working on my floors AGAIN.  Have mercy, let them be done soon!  Big floor sander+ million year old hardwood floors+Tara=a huge mess!  I'm still not sure how I wound up getting this tree done in the middle of all this but somehow I prevailed :)  Probably because going upstairs to work on minis is VACATION for me right now :)  Ok ok, I'll zip my lips and show you these ridiculously awful pictures!  Please check back in tomorrow for a clearer view!
**I retook the pictures BUT-it was dark and foggy out this morning so they still aren't that great and only three of them turned out :(  Oh wells, what can you do?

Back view below-

Ok description of what's going on here:
This one is themed to go with the Hogwarts neighboring village of Hogsmeade and is made to be a business sign display for that village. Every business is represented here, which includes a business sign and a display of items related to what that business does or sells :)

Businesses include:

-Zonkos Joke Shop and it's display includes dangling extendable ears
-Gladrags Wizardwear who's items include funky socks and a pretty nightcap hanging from the sign
-Dervish and Banges for whom I have made an interesting cauldron and advanced potion-making guide
-Hogsmeade Post Office which has the owl in a nest who carries the post as well as several mail deliveries waiting to go out :)
-Honeydukes Sweet Shop which has a large climbing chocolate frog , chocolate bars wrapped in the actual candy bar wrapper as seen in the theme park in Florida, a bag of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, and 2 chocolate frog boxes.
-The Hogshead Pub sign features two bottles of butterbeer hanging from the sign as well as a metal tankard mug of questionable cleanliness :)
-The Three Broomsticks has 2 bottles of hand-sculpted pumpkin juice bottles as well as a single butterbeer bottle hanging underneath.
-Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop is gussied up in frilly style for Hogwarts date nights and outfitted with a lace-covered table top which holds the shop sign, detail painted teapot and cup complete with a lovey-dovey heart floating in the tea :)
-Hogsmeade Station has a train schedule sign with fluttering Hogwarts Express tickets which sparkle in the light like gold :) This is the station where the children get off the Hogwarts Express train and head off to Hogwarts
-and last is Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop who's sign is on the back of the tree with a pot of all different quills, scrolls, and envelopes, and three lovely books in different wizarding subjects.

Beside the tree is a welcome to Hogsmeade sign that I crafted very carefully to look rustic and very well done. It's wood, distressed and clear coated for durability. Below the welcome sign is an arrow sign pointing off to the side with "Hogwarts" on it. Meaning go that direction and you will find Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry :) And I have added Christmas cheer with a greenery swag and candy canes. All of this on a snowy base hand-crafted by me.
The detail is astounding, this is a very elaborate tree with tons of work in it. In person it's incredible! I think it may be the best one I've made yet :)
9 inches tall, roughly 6 inches wide at the base. 1/12 scale outdoor tree.
