Dollhouse Miniature Mermaid Nautical Christmas Tree 1/12 scale

I haven't had a lot of time due to personal issues but I did finally finish this nautical mermaid tree I made:

I wish I had more time to talk about it, but I don't right now :(  The details are pretty much in the photos I guess.

Dollhouse Miniature Sewing Witch Halloween Christmas Tree and Fairy Fireplace 1/12 scale

Hey everyone, I have a couple new miniatures I haven't posted yet so I wanted to share them with you.  I have a new theme tree done and only one more planned for the rest of this year.  This one that's done is a sewing witch tree similar to one my MIL Sherry made years ago.  I never made one and I had one mini sewing machine left so I figured I'd make one too.  Here it is:

Description:
Even witches need a holiday that doesn't involve tricks or treats! This tree belongs to a crafty little witch, who knows how to turn a stitch :) She likes her trees black, her hats pointing and droopy and tricked out fancy, her potions nefarious, and her sewing is divine! What a woman!
This tree reflects her personal style. Topped with a jaunty leather witch hat with a tiny owl clutching onto the side while a snowy owl perches below on the tree, the rest of the tree is covered in tiny brooms, potions, candles dripping wax, all sorts of witchy goodness. Underneath the tree sits an antique singer-style sewing machine working away with a pile of tiny sewing patterns for various witch outfits sitting around it. Sewing baskets, a witch boot pin cushion with needles, a bubbling cauldron with oozing green potion, a cute little broom decorate the base of the tree on a witchy tree skirt. This tree is completely tricked out and hand-crafted from top to bottom. Amazing!

This tree measures roughly 7 inches tall, close to 5 inches wide at the base give or take a little because of the stuff sticking off the sides.

Dollhouse Miniature Nightmare Before Christmas Tree is done!

All done, finally yay!!!  Wow wow wow is all I can say about how difficult and time consuming this tree was for me.  It took weeks of work, and man I will NEVER make it again!  By the time I finished, I had to breathe a sigh of relief because I was finally free lol!  This little booger was a hard one for me.  I had a heck of a time making Jack, he felt like punishment to me in the end :)

So here it is, all done:

I took these in different light so the colors are different from the two different places I shot it.  One was inside and one was outside.

This item is available for sale here:

Have a great evening everyone!  :)

New Dollhouse Miniature Halloween Project

Hello fellow mini buddies :)  Fall is fast approaching and I thought I'd share my one and only (I think) major mini project I'm working on this season.  I was watching a documentary on Netflix called Maidentrip about a young dutch girl who sailed around the world on her own.  During the show I noticed that she wore a beanie hat with Jack Skellington's face from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas.  It reminded me of my MIL Sherry's tree she made in that theme and I realized I never made one of my own in that theme.  Nightmare Before Christmas was such a well loved movie, and is still brilliant to this day.  It was amazing to me the impact it had all over the world and that even today people still love it and wear the apparel.

It made me want to do a tree myself.  So I've been working on it little by little because of the amount of clay work required for this theme.  I got a little carried away making characters and things I saw when I rewatched the movie.  I still have a ways to go before it's done.  Zero the ghost dog needs another coat of glow in the dark paint (he looks a little streaky right now but glows so ghostly and spooky in the dark!) Here's what I have so far:

The little swirly knoll thing will have Jack Skellington standing up on it handing a candy cane to Zero his dog.  Behind him I plan on having a moon with Oogie Boogie's shadow on it, as shown here:

Pretty much the majority of everything on the tree is hand-sculpted or painted by hand or both :)  I made several characters from the movie worked into candy displays.  Even the little zombie duck with bullet holes is on there which is a toy gifted by Jack to a child on Christmas when he impersonated "Sandy Claus".  Hehehe :)  Even the funky headstone is the one Sally hid behind in the graveyard as Jack sang about feeling lost and bored with his life.  There is also a platter of fancy assorted creepy foods like an eyeball cocktail with a candy cane stir stick, eyeball toast hors d'oeuvres, and moldy cheese on the tree.  Watched over by the cutest little bowed Christmas mouse with a candy cane.  He's so tiny it's hard to see him on the photo but he's adorable.  I picked him up on ebay.

I'll post an update when I have this tree done.

Happy collecting everyone :)

Dollhouse Miniature Wizard of Oz Theme Tree now complete

Sorry for the long wait everyone, but I've been sick with an undiagnosed allergy that's causing me a lot of grief right now and for the past two months I haven't been well.  Still trying to figure out what's causing it, still going through tests at the doctor's.  It's been crazy trying to figure out what's causing me to get sick.  I've tried everything, even pulling out carpet in my house in case it's dust or something like that and cleaning everything in sight.  No idea so far :(

Anyway enough of that, but that's why it took me so long to get this done and not in time for Christmas.  But I did finally get it done.  I'm really happy with how it turned out though!  I feel it's one of my best.  TONS of work though, yikes.  Some very difficult sculpting on this one.

I'll show you pictures and describe what I did below them:

Photobucket

This tree is wildly imaginative and so very cute in person. Photos never seem to capture the magic of the minis as they really are in person. There is tons of work in this tree, I worked on it for a month and a half little by little. So many completely handmade and pure sculpted items on this tree, including the flying monkey with real feathers all over him that I made from sculpting clay and then I hand-painted him and added feathers all over his body. I followed a photo of the flying monkeys from the movie as carefully as I could. Another pure sculpt would be little Toto the dog, completely haired in tibetan lambs wool. Squished underneath a large gift box is the Wicked Witch, her little black and white stocking legs sticking out with those famous ruby slippers on her feet. Next to her propped up by some little munchkin is her witches flying broomstick. On the other side of the tree is a piece of snowy ground with completely meticulously handmade red poppies as in the movie. Remember when the Wicked Witch casts a spell for poppies to grow up in between Dorothy and the Emerald City? They made her go to sleep. Glenda the Good Witch cast another spell for snow to fall on the poppies which woke her up, allowing her to get to the Emerald City after all :) And so, snowy poppies on the other side of my tree. Toto stands on the yellow brick road under the tree ready to begin the journey to the Wizard. Various beautifully wrapped gifts sit under the tree, most wrapped elaborately in beautiful fabrics and fluffy bows. On the tree, candles everywhere, gorgeous framed photos from the movie of the most important movie characters including the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Glenda the good witch, the Wicked Witch, Dorothy, and one of the Wicked Witch threatening Dorothy. Also on the tree, hand-sculpted tornado ornaments with all sorts of things coming out of the top and gears flying along the side of the tornados as well. A sculpted pair of ruby slippers with little bows hangs right in the front of the tree toward the bottom where they can be seen well. All sorts of other things cover the tree but I'll let you look over the photos to see them all. These were the most important things I thought I'd mention.

I'm very very proud of how this tree came out and though it was a lot of work, I feel it's one of my best and I'm thrilled with it :) It's lovely in person!

A smidge over 7 inches tall, the base is roughly 7 1/4 inches wide at the widest point due to the things sticking off of it and around it. This is a wider base to accommodate the various design features like the yellow brick road and snowy poppy field.

Getting closer on my Miniature Rudolph Christmas Tree

All I have left to do is make the Island of Misfit Toys characters.  Then I'm all done with this one :)  Hoping to have it listed in the next two days.  I heard from Sherry that she's making up to 4 new trees herself, the themes being 2 Cinderella trees, one candy tree, and one gemstone encrusted mini tree.  Since she started her store, she's bought a ton of cool gemstones online.  I guess she decided to make a totally gemstone tree for fun.  She said the garland is made from a ton of carats of peridot gemstones and they rest of the tree is covered in all other types of stones.  No idea, but it should be interesting to see it :)  It was a unique idea anyway.  I'll be starting my next tree next week I think.  I'm not sure yet which I plan on doing first between Wizard of Oz and Nightmare before Christmas.  Not sure :)  Here's what I have done with the Rudolph tree, minus the misfit toys.  I've started the Charlie in the Box toy, not sure yet which others I'll make:

Front:
Charlie in the box will be sitting in the front of the wheel barrow, I know that much.  There will be more toys of course.

Closer look at the bottom:

Back of the tree:
I wish these pictures had turned out more clear.  The detail is really lost no matter what I do.  But you get the idea though.  Now for the toy sculpting :)  Should be challenging to do toys so small.

More of Sherry and I's jewelry:

                                                                 Genuine Mystic Chrysoprase

                                                                      Personalized!

The store is finally taking off I think, and we'll be adding more and more to it as we go along.  And it'll be mostly genuine gemstone jewelry from here on out.

A sneak peak at the miniature Christmas tree I'm working on

I started a new theme tree and I haven't gotten very far along yet but I thought I'd pop in and show you what I have started so far.
Keep in mind this doesn't look like much yet but give me time and it'll be full of goodies:
And the backside of the tree so far:
                                                          And the front again :)

I have a long way to go yet.  My plans are to make the island of misfit toys characters with clay, to make more tree ornaments, some candy to stick here and there, and wrapped gift boxes for under the tree.  The bottom side that has nothing on it will have packages and "Charlie" in the box-the jack in the box toy who was a misfit because he was named Charlie instead of Jack :)  The gold disks on the tree will have candles in them and there will be bright green ornaments here and there.  And toys all over the tree of course.  It'll be full of stuff before the end.  This is just a basic start of what will be for this tree.  And yes, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer is an actual part of the tree base, he's glued on there.  You can't really see the fabric of the tree skirt but it looks like snow a bit but with a slight pale blue shimmer.  Around it is a snowy white garland trim you can just barely make out in this photo.  I'll be back when I'm done with it, this is the start of three theme trees I'm doing.  The 2nd will be Wizard of Oz because I need to rewatch the movie for inspiration.  How fun is that?  That's what's great about minis, you get to relive being a kid again :)  The third tree will be my own version of The Nightmare Before Christmas Tree but done in the Jack Skellington "Christmas" style instead of the Halloween style Sherry did (which was darling, I just want to do more of a Christmas look myself to change things up a bit).    Think Santa Claus Jack plus a few creepies, plus candy, etc.  Jack in his Santa outfit, shrunken heads on the tree mixed in with candy, bats, Christmas stockings, his dog Zero of course, etc.  A mix of Halloween and Christmas, with the majority leaning towards Christmas.

Stay tuned for updates :)

Updated Pictures-Dollhouse Miniature Snow White Theme Tree

All I have left to do to the rabbit hole project inside is cloth and hair Alice.  I was working on that and got fed up so I took a little break to make this theme tree :)  Snow White is everywhere right now due to the movies Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman.  So it put me in the mood to make a theme tree.  My pictures are horrid because the sun was directly overhead when I shot them so I'll have to come back in tomorrow with new pictures.  So please note that this is better in person!

Available here:

I also reshot some pictures of a necklace I made since the pictures were so distant and far away that it wasn't selling.  Every other piece I've made has sold previously, this is the last one left.

A little futher along on my Harry Potter Hogsmeade Miniature Tree

I still have a long way to go yet but I have a good start.  I basically have most of the signs up, but I forgot one of them (a quill shop) so I guess it'll have to be around the back of the tree.  I only have a few of the displays done for each of the shops though.  The Hogsmeade Post Office is done, the one with the owl and rolled up scrolls (including a daily prophet newspaper with Harry and Hermoine on the cover).  The Hogshead Pub is done as well, with hanging bottles of butterbeer and a metal tankard for drinking out of.  You might not realize the Hogshead is Aberforth Dumbledore's pub, the brother of Albus Dumbledore.  This pub plays an importamt part in the movie as it was the place where Harry, Ron, and Hermione enter Hogwarts through after all the other secret passages in are blocked off by Professor Snape after he takes over Hogwarts.  Without this pub's secret passage, there would have been no way in and thus no way that Harry could find and kill the last horcruxes.  Anyway, that display is done.  The only other one done right now is the Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop display.  I made a partial table top, covered it in lace and glued it directly to the side of the tree.  On this I placed the tea shop sign, a detailed painted teapot and cup.  The cup has "tea" in it with a heart floating in it.  This tea shop is billed as an over the top, sickeningly sweet laced-up froofy shop that Hogwarts couples frequent on dates :)  So I froofed up the table setting and added a floating heart to the tea.  I have a partial start on the Zonkos Joke Shop display, I added bright ribbon cut in irregular lengths to the top and some sparkly green shooting stars around the top of the sign.  I suspended the "tricks &jokes" sign that goes with this shop sign just underneath the shop name by chains, and then dangled some extendable ears from the sign.  I'm still trying to decide what else I'll dangle from it.  So that one's not done yet.  These ears are hanging from the ceiling in the real theme park at universal studios as shown below:
and were featured in one of the movies:
so I really wanted to add them in :)
I still haven't started Gladrags Wizardwear yet with it's little funky socks, and all I've got on the Dervish and Banges sign so far is a neat little cauldron.  I'm still unsure what I want to do with that one.  And I have nothing on the Three Broomsticks sign yet.  I know for sure it will also have a single butterbeer bottle as well as two pumpkin juice bottles hanging from it.  I may add on the three little broomsticks around it as well.
Oh I also forgot I did get the Hogsmeade station one done as well.  All that could be done with it that I could think of was to add on some train tickets to the Hogwarts Express Train.  I put up the fancy schedule sign and made some cute little Platform 9 3/4 tickets to hang around it.  I'll put up the pictures:

Ugh, poor little three broomsticks sign dangling there with nothing on it!
It looks so odd.

Poor little candy-less Honeydukes sign!  It'll have chocolate frog boxes, a frog climbing the top of the sign and other candy around it.

Like I said, so much more to do.  But it's a decent start anyway :)  Gosh these pictures are so horrible due to the wicked wind we have today!  I had to shoot them too fast and they stink :(

Just a little peak at my newest tree and plans :)

I have a basic start on this, but I wanted to show you the tree itself before I mess around with it too much. I think it's a pretty tree, much taller, thinner, and more majestic than those I have worked with before. Truly an outdoor style of tree this time. All I've added so far is a white garland and an owl sitting in his nest. And the base with snow of course.

The background in this last photo shows the village of Hogsmeade, see how it's all snowy?  This is why this tree has a snowy base and I added a puff of snow to the top of the tree as well.  What I plan to do is use this tree as a advertisement for the businesses of Hogsmeade, with a sign from each place of business and items surrounding it pertaining to what that business sells.  For example, Madame Puddifoot's Tea Shop sign will have tea related items around it.  Honeydukes will have candy of course, Zonkos Joke Shop will have gag items like extendable ears, The Hogs Head will have butterbear bottles, The Three Broomsticks will have pumpkin juice bottles, Gladrags Wizardwear will have crazy little socks hanging from the bottom of the sign (this is where Dobby buys his crazy socks he famously likes to wear when he becomes a free elf in the books), Hogsmeade Station (where the Hogwarts Express drops off the students) will have train tickets, etc.

Here is a quick look at a few of the unfinished business signs:
These will really be tricked out and designed to the best of my ability when I get going on this.  Each sign will be a small display of "related to that shop" items.

Sorry about the crappy pictures but I shot all these inside my photo cube because the wind is wicked outside today :(  Stay tuned to see what I do with this neat little outdoor tree :)

A Series of Miniature Holiday Fireplaces bring in the "cozy" to dollhouses :)

The weather has turned colder here and we've even seen some snow fly!  I personally love this time of year, all tucked in like bears for the winter :)  The only thing is I worry about my loved ones on the roads and also I have a really hard time getting decent pictures inside.  Often I have to gear up and head outside to shoot my pictures anyway.  You'll see a drop in the quality of my pictures most likely :(  Either because they've been shot inside in my photocube or else I was hurrying through my pictures outside because I was freezing!  Either way, no matter how good I make something it'll look worse now :(  Bad pictures make a good miniature look bad too.  Tis the season to freeze or provide crappy pictures.

Anyways, I caught a cold and haven't been working or blogging like usual.  Did I say I loved this time of year?  Ugh, mental!  Hehe.  I've done three different fireplaces for the holidays though, because this time of year makes me wish I had one in my real house!  What could be cozier than a warm fire in a lovely fireplace during a cold winter?  Nothing that I can think of.  So I made three of them in three different styles:  a stylish modern-more adult fireplace, a harvest home fireplace with a pie baking, and a child's theme fireplace with gifts galore :)  I'll shush up and just show you :

The pictures above are of the modern adult fireplace complete with a candy cane martini and icy arrangement that looks like those in high-end stores during the holidays.  There's even a little mouse all wrapped up in Christmas bows and holding a bowed candy cane :)  He's so cute in person!

(Remember my pictures aren't too good right now and these are better in person by far!)

And now the home hearth fireplace:

and finally my favorite, the child's Christmas wish fireplace:

What you can't really see are the tiny cute little gingerbread men cookies and the two signs aren't easy to read in these pictures but are in person.  The one with the cookies reads:  "Dear Santa, We left some cookies for you to eat, so take a break and rest your feet!", and the one above the fire reads:  ""Dear Santa, define good..."
That really reminded me of my own kids, hehe!  I had to put it on because it makes me smile.

These are all available here in my store:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/tarayvonne

Up next will be a miniature mermaid chest decorated like a treasure trove and then some more Harry Potter minis in the near future!  If you haven't seen the last movie you have to run out and buy it immediately!  It was epic :)
