Dollhouse Miniature Sewing Witch Halloween Christmas Tree and Fairy Fireplace 1/12 scale

Hey everyone, I have a couple new miniatures I haven't posted yet so I wanted to share them with you.  I have a new theme tree done and only one more planned for the rest of this year.  This one that's done is a sewing witch tree similar to one my MIL Sherry made years ago.  I never made one and I had one mini sewing machine left so I figured I'd make one too.  Here it is:

Description:
Even witches need a holiday that doesn't involve tricks or treats! This tree belongs to a crafty little witch, who knows how to turn a stitch :) She likes her trees black, her hats pointing and droopy and tricked out fancy, her potions nefarious, and her sewing is divine! What a woman!
This tree reflects her personal style. Topped with a jaunty leather witch hat with a tiny owl clutching onto the side while a snowy owl perches below on the tree, the rest of the tree is covered in tiny brooms, potions, candles dripping wax, all sorts of witchy goodness. Underneath the tree sits an antique singer-style sewing machine working away with a pile of tiny sewing patterns for various witch outfits sitting around it. Sewing baskets, a witch boot pin cushion with needles, a bubbling cauldron with oozing green potion, a cute little broom decorate the base of the tree on a witchy tree skirt. This tree is completely tricked out and hand-crafted from top to bottom. Amazing!

This tree measures roughly 7 inches tall, close to 5 inches wide at the base give or take a little because of the stuff sticking off the sides.

Dollhouse Miniature Nightmare Before Christmas Tree is done!

All done, finally yay!!!  Wow wow wow is all I can say about how difficult and time consuming this tree was for me.  It took weeks of work, and man I will NEVER make it again!  By the time I finished, I had to breathe a sigh of relief because I was finally free lol!  This little booger was a hard one for me.  I had a heck of a time making Jack, he felt like punishment to me in the end :)

So here it is, all done:

I took these in different light so the colors are different from the two different places I shot it.  One was inside and one was outside.

New Dollhouse Miniature Halloween Project

Hello fellow mini buddies :)  Fall is fast approaching and I thought I'd share my one and only (I think) major mini project I'm working on this season.  I was watching a documentary on Netflix called Maidentrip about a young dutch girl who sailed around the world on her own.  During the show I noticed that she wore a beanie hat with Jack Skellington's face from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas.  It reminded me of my MIL Sherry's tree she made in that theme and I realized I never made one of my own in that theme.  Nightmare Before Christmas was such a well loved movie, and is still brilliant to this day.  It was amazing to me the impact it had all over the world and that even today people still love it and wear the apparel.

It made me want to do a tree myself.  So I've been working on it little by little because of the amount of clay work required for this theme.  I got a little carried away making characters and things I saw when I rewatched the movie.  I still have a ways to go before it's done.  Zero the ghost dog needs another coat of glow in the dark paint (he looks a little streaky right now but glows so ghostly and spooky in the dark!) Here's what I have so far:

The little swirly knoll thing will have Jack Skellington standing up on it handing a candy cane to Zero his dog.  Behind him I plan on having a moon with Oogie Boogie's shadow on it, as shown here:

Pretty much the majority of everything on the tree is hand-sculpted or painted by hand or both :)  I made several characters from the movie worked into candy displays.  Even the little zombie duck with bullet holes is on there which is a toy gifted by Jack to a child on Christmas when he impersonated "Sandy Claus".  Hehehe :)  Even the funky headstone is the one Sally hid behind in the graveyard as Jack sang about feeling lost and bored with his life.  There is also a platter of fancy assorted creepy foods like an eyeball cocktail with a candy cane stir stick, eyeball toast hors d'oeuvres, and moldy cheese on the tree.  Watched over by the cutest little bowed Christmas mouse with a candy cane.  He's so tiny it's hard to see him on the photo but he's adorable.  I picked him up on ebay.

Dollhouse Miniature Wizard of Oz Theme Tree now complete

Sorry for the long wait everyone, but I've been sick with an undiagnosed allergy that's causing me a lot of grief right now and for the past two months I haven't been well.  Still trying to figure out what's causing it, still going through tests at the doctor's.  It's been crazy trying to figure out what's causing me to get sick.  I've tried everything, even pulling out carpet in my house in case it's dust or something like that and cleaning everything in sight.  No idea so far :(

Anyway enough of that, but that's why it took me so long to get this done and not in time for Christmas.  But I did finally get it done.  I'm really happy with how it turned out though!  I feel it's one of my best.  TONS of work though, yikes.  Some very difficult sculpting on this one.

I'll show you pictures and describe what I did below them:

     

This tree is wildly imaginative and so very cute in person. Photos never seem to capture the magic of the minis as they really are in person. There is tons of work in this tree, I worked on it for a month and a half little by little. So many completely handmade and pure sculpted items on this tree, including the flying monkey with real feathers all over him that I made from sculpting clay and then I hand-painted him and added feathers all over his body. I followed a photo of the flying monkeys from the movie as carefully as I could. Another pure sculpt would be little Toto the dog, completely haired in tibetan lambs wool. Squished underneath a large gift box is the Wicked Witch, her little black and white stocking legs sticking out with those famous ruby slippers on her feet. Next to her propped up by some little munchkin is her witches flying broomstick. On the other side of the tree is a piece of snowy ground with completely meticulously handmade red poppies as in the movie. Remember when the Wicked Witch casts a spell for poppies to grow up in between Dorothy and the Emerald City? They made her go to sleep. Glenda the Good Witch cast another spell for snow to fall on the poppies which woke her up, allowing her to get to the Emerald City after all :) And so, snowy poppies on the other side of my tree. Toto stands on the yellow brick road under the tree ready to begin the journey to the Wizard. Various beautifully wrapped gifts sit under the tree, most wrapped elaborately in beautiful fabrics and fluffy bows. On the tree, candles everywhere, gorgeous framed photos from the movie of the most important movie characters including the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Glenda the good witch, the Wicked Witch, Dorothy, and one of the Wicked Witch threatening Dorothy. Also on the tree, hand-sculpted tornado ornaments with all sorts of things coming out of the top and gears flying along the side of the tornados as well. A sculpted pair of ruby slippers with little bows hangs right in the front of the tree toward the bottom where they can be seen well. All sorts of other things cover the tree but I'll let you look over the photos to see them all. These were the most important things I thought I'd mention. 

I'm very very proud of how this tree came out and though it was a lot of work, I feel it's one of my best and I'm thrilled with it :) It's lovely in person!

A smidge over 7 inches tall, the base is roughly 7 1/4 inches wide at the widest point due to the things sticking off of it and around it. This is a wider base to accommodate the various design features like the yellow brick road and snowy poppy field.

Getting closer on my Miniature Rudolph Christmas Tree

All I have left to do is make the Island of Misfit Toys characters.  Then I'm all done with this one :)  Hoping to have it listed in the next two days.  I heard from Sherry that she's making up to 4 new trees herself, the themes being 2 Cinderella trees, one candy tree, and one gemstone encrusted mini tree.  Since she started her store, she's bought a ton of cool gemstones online.  I guess she decided to make a totally gemstone tree for fun.  She said the garland is made from a ton of carats of peridot gemstones and they rest of the tree is covered in all other types of stones.  No idea, but it should be interesting to see it :)  It was a unique idea anyway.  I'll be starting my next tree next week I think.  I'm not sure yet which I plan on doing first between Wizard of Oz and Nightmare before Christmas.  Not sure :)  Here's what I have done with the Rudolph tree, minus the misfit toys.  I've started the Charlie in the Box toy, not sure yet which others I'll make:

 Charlie in the box will be sitting in the front of the wheel barrow, I know that much.  There will be more toys of course.

I wish these pictures had turned out more clear.  The detail is really lost no matter what I do.  But you get the idea though.  Now for the toy sculpting :)  Should be challenging to do toys so small.
